For 20 years now, New Economy Project has been working with grassroots groups to end Wall Street exploitation of struggling people and communities. Our mission is to build a movement for a new, cooperative economy that works for all.

Like you, we are deeply alarmed by the outcome of the election, and the consequences yet to come. The ground has shifted in fundamental and frightening ways. Years of hard-won gains are sure to come under assault, and organizations like ours will have to come together like never before to defend programs, policies and funding that so many communities need for survival.

Even before the election, we had our work cut out for us. New Economy Project’s ambitious mission – to build an economy that works for all, based on cooperation, racial justice and ecological sustainability – is rooted in the understanding that our current system has failed. Our dominant economic institutions have stripped wealth from people and communities of color, perpetuated ever-widening inequality, and put our planet’s very survival in peril.

We are not alone in this work. The “new economy” movement is growing as more and more people recognize that the status quo is both unjust and unsustainable – and that new solutions are urgently needed. For the past two decades, New Economy Project has won groundbreaking campaigns that benefit millions of New Yorkers. But we don't stop there. We are committed to the long, hard work of building a just economy and a movement for transformational change.

In NYC, New Economy Project is working with our many allies to advance cooperative and community-led development. We've made great strides: launching a community loan fund for worker-owned businesses; supporting community land trusts to combat gentrification and homelessness; and creating a brand-new cooperative economics curriculum to support grassroots organizing, to name a few examples.

Please help us continue this vital work. Triple your impact by donating today: All gifts made before December 23, 2016 will be matched 2-to-1 by a generous donor.

file?reset=1&id=85&eid=5More than ever, we must envision and fight for the world we want to see. Economic insecurity and inequality have proven to be grave threats not only to the health of our communities, but to our democracy, our environment, and our collective future. We know that democracy is about more than elections. It is about economic self-determination, in our communities, homes, and workplaces. This work is ever-critical to the struggle for racial and economic justice. We're all in this together.
